the new focus motor that promises to said Sigma an higher torque (and hence a higher acceleration) is quick, silent and allows fine-precision focus that, at full aperture with this lens is simply necessary.
 
At first I suggest you test the focus at the minimum distance and possibly adjust the fine tuning with on-camera correction allowed by your Nikon.
Once you make sure your photos are sure to have a system that favors.
Eventually you can use the optional SIgma USB board to improve the focus precision.
Cromatic Aberration
 
Each superbright lens is affected by chromatic aberrations that may vary, depending on the lighting.
Even Her Majesty the Zeiss Otus is affected, though in small amounts.
 

 
this is no exception for this Sigma Art. However, I must say that in light of "normal" conditions the phenomenon is well contrasted by the optical scheme and that closing to F2 already almost disappears.
 
Obviously in challenging lighting conditions (bright sunlight and backlight) as in the shots that follow, the longitudinal chromatic aberration will be evident in the finest details.
 

 

 
but we are definitely on the level below those of the previous model. And infinitely less than what I experienced with the venerable Nikon 85/1.4D, even on low-resolution cameras like the Nikon D2H (each line of each subject structures was literally slip in green and magenta).
 
Closing the aperture the phenomenon disappears. But is one thing that is quite negligible when you print your pictures, except in special details, like reflections on the pupils of the eyes.
 
Vignetting
 
All superbright lens suffer from vignetting at the widest apertures.
This Sigma is no exception.
 

F1.4 to vignetting is very pronounced, as well a stop and a half at the corners

at F2 it is still evident

at F2.8 begins to wane

to become negligible at F4.
 
It is a normal phenomenon, indeed, in the portrait desirable because it helps to isolate the subject.
Stopping down disappears. If you do not put important subjects at extreme angles, it is easily corrected by software.
 
Bokeh
 








 
the "technical" (geometrical shapes and lines) front blur is not beautiful. But it is a constant in almost all modern lenses.
But it's instead properly creamy the rear blur.
The points of light are rendered according to their brightness and distance and direction of light.
Circular or cat eyes.
 
But here we are in the field of flavors. Everyone will have to say in favor or against the render of each lens.
 
 
Sharpness
 
as long to focus perfectly, sharpness already at full aperture is very high.
Stopping down you end up with ... exaggerate sharpness
